Wow! What a week it’s been! And it’s only 1/2 way over. Our excitement started out with Austin’s Halloween party on Friday with daycare. He dressed up as a little old man and had a blast touring the hospital trick-or-treating. They then ate a ton of snacks in the afternoon before being sent home with their goodies. Then on Saturday we carved pumpkins. Austin’s been very excited for the past week about pumpkins (they must be talking a lot about them at daycare) and he’s sure to point out every pumpkin he sees! After supper we stripped him down (we knew it’d get messy!) and let him have a go at his pumpkin (of course, he picked the biggest one).
He helped empty it, and even helped Trevor with the “Owie” part (cutting!).
If that wasn’t enough, the look on his face when it lit up was priceless! He was amazed to say the least.
It wasn’t any later of a night than usual, but the excitement of the last 2 days must have caught up with him because when he laid down in the tub to rinse his hair… he fell asleep!!
Sunday, he dressed up as a Greaser and went trick-or-treating to the neighbours’.
He was quite shy and wouldn’t say his thank you’s at each door, despite repeated prompting. However, once he got home, he immediately dumped his pail, and one-by-one, put the candy’s back in, saying: “Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you” until he was all done!
He was equally excited at handing out candy to the kids and never once got scared of the costumes. It didn’t take us long to see why he liked it so much… He was sneaking an extra candy into his pail with every group of kids!!
Monday was a bit of a rest for all of us, in preparation for an even bigger day on Tuesday. I kept him home with me during the day so that he could get some more rest… because it was going to be a late night. And late it was!! He slept through our supper plans with friends, but after supper, he sure didn’t miss a thing… at… the… WIGGLES CONCERT!!!
He had most of his fun dancing in the isles to the music before the concert started. Once it got going, I’m not sure he knew what was going on, but he sure didn’t take his eyes off the Wiggles the whole night.
We had floor seats, so often they would leave the stage and come through the seats. Austin handed his flowers for Dorothy right to Captain Feathersword! When we went shopping to get her roses (for the less-than-Wiggles-fans out there, Dorothy is a big dinosaur who dances and eats roses) he was so excited for the flowers and kept saying: Dor-tee Dor-tee. Here's just a taste:
So, now it’s Wednesday, Austin was up late last night and early this morning. We’re all pretty tired, but excited for some great family time this week. I head off tomorrow to Montreal for the weekend for a 2 day exam and some catching up with a good friend I haven’t seen in forever! This will be the last one (assuming I passed them all!) and the rest of residency is just putting in my time. Wow, it’ll be nice to have this over! On that note, I should run off and get some studying done before the fatigue sets in. Trevor has been doing great. He’s not as busy at work as he’d like to be, but he’s terribly busy at home being super-dad and super-husband while I’ve been away so much. We both look forward to all this busy-ness being over with.
Have a great day! And we’ll talk soon I’m sure. Mom and Dad F and Dustin (and his new robo-hand!) will be coming down to visit in a few weeks. And there’s a big shopping trip on Black Friday planned… many more stories to tell I’m sure!
Love and miss you all!
Allison, Trevor, and Austin
